CAD Project

In this we are creating 3-D shapes from diagrams given to us.
The point of it is to further mastery of the Inventor Program.

Instructions:
1: create a rectangle the goes 7 in back and 2 in right. create a rectangle from the back right courner that goes 4 in foward, and 1 right. From the back right corner of the 2nd rectangle create a rectangle that goes 7 in foward and 2 in right. Go to model and hit extrude, hold down CTRL and select all three rectangle. Extrude them up 2 in.
2: go to creat 2D sketch and select the top of you're shape. From tthe back left hand corner create a rectangle that goes 2 in foward and 5 in right. Go to extrude and extrude up 2 in.
3. Go to create 2-D sketch and select the top of the rectangular prism u just added to the top of you're shap. From the back left corner create a rectangle that goes foward 2 in and 1 in to the right. From the back right corner maqke a recgtanle that is 2 in foward and 1 in left. Then extrude both these rectangles up 1 in.

It is neccisary to be detailed when documenting you're design(creating instruction for it) so that you're instructions are not misinturprated of it by others.

Personaly I found it harder to follow my partners insructions since they were not clear in terms of direction and didnt see fit to use vertexis as reference points.

(not sure of the relevence of the question) Mass has to do witrh the amount of matter while weight is the measure of gravities effect on that amount, thus while something may have a different mass of the moon then on earth, due to difference in gravity, the amount of matter does not change so thus the mass stayes the same.

There is no difference between surface area and area, perhaps you meant volume rather than area?

Khan Academy

The particular video I watche from this cite was the electoral colledge.

What I liked about the video: It was very visual, the subject was well explained, when the narator went into details he connected them to their importance. As well it managed to cover a very large and complex topic in a short amount of time and still did so well enough to provide an indept understanding of the subject.

Changes I would make: If at all posibble, I believe it would best to have the videos be interactive, in other words, I'll be honest I'm not sure how this would work or how it could be done but I feel if it was acheivable it would make the videos more engaging to the participant.

It is of my opinion that this form of education would infact be better than our current system. It allows for more student teacher interaction if the more passive parts of learning are done at home. As well it is simply more efficient time wise. I feel its better to do the lecture without interuption or chance of question. If a student lacked understanding they could ask afterwards at school for the teacher to help them with the subject in question.

Airplane Glider

In this activity we made balsa wood air plains based off of plans we were given. There were several challnges with missing or broken peices that we had to overcome.

In order to test our glider, me and Montana simply tried to fly it. Unfortunently I made a mistake during construction so we wern't able to fine tune our airplane.

In the compotition our plane didn't win any event but did ok in terms of flying though.

The only three steps we did were creating a prototype, testing it and making a final product.

For building a prototype we simply build the plane.

For testing we tested it to see if it could fly.

For building the final we fixed a few problems with the prototype.

Money ball quesions

1) What was the “Moneyball”approach that Billy Beane and Peter Brandt applied to the Oakland Athletics 2002 season? Was it an “art” or a “science”? What single statistic did they boil their value consideration down to? (In class research/discussion)
The money ball approach was to base the worth of players on their stats rather than their personality or abilities.
2) What is the equation used to calculate OBP? (In class research/discussion)
OBP=( H+BB+HBP)/(AB+BB+HBP+SF)
3) What is design? (In class research/discussion)
To make or formulate a system, object or event.
4) Describe 3 situations where movie characters (intentionally or not) applied a step from the PLTW 12 Step Design Process. Explain both the (a) situation as well as (b) how the step is relevant:1 –In the beginning when all the advisors were trying to find players they were brainstorming2 - 3 - 5) What is “Leadership”? List the three aspects of leadership that we come up with in class. (In class research/discussion)1 – Taking initiative2 –Helping others3 – Organizing others6) Describe 3 circumstances from the story where a character exercised effective leadership:1 – The maincharacter showed leadership by sticking steadfast to his plan2 – One of the players that that Beane talked to, who encouraged other players.3 –Beane also showed leadership by agreeing to compromise with the field coach7) According to the movie, what was the A’s record at the start of their winning streak? 68-518) What does this ratio simplify to (roughly)? 1.333 : 19) How long was the A’s record setting winning streak? 20 games won.10) Given the A’s win/loss ratio at the start of the streak (listed two questions above), what are the odds of winning 20 games in a row? Run the numbers. (In class research/discussion) .0013106% likely hood11) Based on your calculation, do you think the A’s got lucky or was there something to the Moneyball approach? It is almost absolute that the Moneyball or some other variable had a significant effect.12) Did Billy Beane strictly apply the “science” of Moneyball to his management approach? Was there an “art” to his efforts as well? Describe a circumstance where he broke from the Moneyball approach to make a positive change for the team.It mostely was science in terms of money ball but in trying to get the players he wanted there was in fact an art to it, almost like a balance act. The one player who money ball predicted being a great player didn’t take his job seriously so Beane traded him.
